Perfect Pairs follows the same rules as in standard Blackjack and offers an additional bet that is won by getting a pair. Perfect Pairs is a thinker's game and a game for those in search for a game filled with. It is a great enhancement to any Blackjack game.” Today, the Perfect Pairs side bet is a mainstay in the Australian and Asian blackjack market, but you can also find several casinos in Las Vegas spreading the popular option. How to Land a Winner on the Perfect Pairs Side Bet.
How to Play Perfect Pairs Blackjack
Learning how to play perfect pairs blackjack is simple, as it’s almost identical to traditional blackjack. There is one major difference, in the form of a side bet. More on the side bet later.
The game is traditionally played with six or eight 52-card decks, although you may be able to find a casino where a smaller number of decks are used. This is not likely, however, as a small number of decks make it less likely that players would have consistent access to the cards needed to win this side bet. And since we’re still talking about a game of blackjack, fewer decks in the shoe would mean a decided advantage for card counters (unless, of course, someone is playing Perfect Pairs Blackjack online).
Perfect Pairs blackjack is seen by many as the more exciting variant of Blackjack, even if it is basically a standard casino classic that also offers players a chance to place perfect pairs side bet. This means that the main gameplay is no different than in any other standard Blackjack game, whereas the perfect pairs side bet when placed. Perfect pairs blackjack is a variation of the traditional blackjack game that also allows for a side bet and is typically played with two decks of cards. When playing perfect pairs blackjack, you wager the same as you would in a normal blackjack game.
The side bet known as Perfect Pairs Blackjack comes into play at the beginning of each hand, and the rest of the game proceeds like any other round of blackjack. That means the ultimate objective is to get as close to 21 as possible by adding together the value of your cards, being careful not to go over 21 or wind up with a lower total than the dealer. If your initial two cards add up to 21, then it’s considered a natural blackjack and you automatically win.
Before you are dealt your first two cards, you can elect to make a side bet in addition to your normal wager. This side bet is for Perfect Pairs Blackjack, and it must meet a minimum amount as determined by the casino (you can also bet more if you choose).
Once your bets have been placed, you receive your first two cards. If the cards constitute a pair, then you win the side bet according to what kind of pair you have and the payout rates of the casino. If the two cards don’t make a pair, then you lose the side bet. In either case, the side bet is resolved and play continues as in normal blackjack.
The best result for the side bet is a “perfect pair.” This means two identical cards of the same rank and color. Depending on the casino, this will pay out at either 30:1 or 25:1.
The next winning option is the “colored pair.” This is two cards of the same rank and color (such as the ace of hearts and the ace of diamonds). I’ve seen casinos that pay 15:1, 12:1, and even 10:1 for this winning side bet.
The next winning option is the “colored pair.” This is two cards of the same rank and color (such as the ace of hearts and the ace of diamonds). I’ve seen casinos that pay 15:1, 12:1, and even 10:1 for this winning side bet.
Finally, there’s the “red/black” pair, which are two cards of the same rank but of different colors (an ace of hearts and an ace of spades, for example). This usually pays out at either 5:1 or 6:1.
As most of the other popular table games, blackjack has many game variations with similar, yet different rules and unique characteristics. Perfect Blackjack is one of these unique games which are very favourable to those who know how to follow their intuition and win the special Perfect Pairs bet. Perfect Blackjack Rules
This is one of the blackjack variations that have the normal blackjack rules, spiced up with the possibility of placing Perfect Pairs side bet. The game can be played with two, four and five decks of 52 cards and the dealer always stands on soft 17. Some game variations differ in the doubling options the player has. For example, at some casinos players can double on any given hand, while at some the player can only double on 9-11.
Blackjack Perfect Pairs
Usually, the game starts with the player placing the regular blackjack bet and then he may choose to place a Perfect Pair bet. After this, the dealer starts dealing the first two rounds of cards. Two face-up cards are given to the player and one face up plus one face down card is dealt to the dealer. This is the moment when the Perfect Pairs bet is won or lost. If the player has received a mixed, coloured or a perfect pair, he gets his payout on the side bet and the game continues. If there is no pair, the side bet is lost and the game continues as well.
The player can also place an insurance bet and the dealer may peek for a blackjack or not, depending on the casino at which the game is played. Surrender is not an option when playing Perfect Blackjack. Later on, the player can decide to hit, stand, double or split cards. The objective is scoring a 21 and beating the dealer’s hand. Split Ace and a ten are not considered to be a blackjack, but a 21 and it will not beat a dealer blackjack.
The House Edge
As in every other blackjack game, this game has certain rules that can affect the overall house edge. Since the game is usually played with two, four or five decks of 52 cards, the house edge can be 0.35% – 0.44%. Of course, there are other factors that also change the house edge. For example, the player’s ability to double on any hand or only on 9-11 increases or lowers the house edge drastically. In any case, the dealer stands on soft 17, while he can or cannot peek for a blackjack, depending on the particular casino rules.
Side Bets – Perfect Pair
Perfect Blackjack is a blackjack variation that allows players to place up to five blackjack bets and up to five side bets. Since the basic blackjack rules apply, after the first two cards are dealt, the player may place an insurance bet. However, what makes this game special is the Perfect Pairs side bet that is placed before any card is given to the player. There are three payout levels when it comes to the Perfect Pairs bet: a mixed pair made of one red-suited and one black suited card is paid 5:1, a coloured pair of two same cards sharing the same colour pays 10:1 and the Perfect Pair made of two identical cards has a 30:1 payout.
Winning Strategy
Because of the many rule variations, there is no single Perfect Blackjack strategy. However, some of the basic blackjack strategy rules apply. In this paragraph, you can read the optimal strategy for playing with two decks, no surrender and no peek for blackjack, doubling on 9-11 and dealer stands on soft 17 rules. For the start, the player should consider doubling when the dealer holds 2-9, while he has hard 9, 10, 11 and a pair of fives. An exception is a situation in which the player has hard 9 and the dealer 7, 8 or 9. In this case, the best option is to hit.
To stand is advisable every time the player has hard 17+, soft 9, 10 and a pair of tens, no matter what the dealer’s card is. The player is advised to stand whenever he has hard 12-16 and the dealer holds 2-6, except in situations when the dealer has 2 or 3 and the player has hard 12. Soft 8 across dealer’s 2-8 is also a good sign to stand. The player should stand with 9-9 in his hand if the dealer shows 7, 10 or Ace.
If the player holds hard 5-16 he should consider hit as the best move, regardless the dealer’s hand. Of course, this rule applies unless differently stated in the text above. Hit on soft 3-7 is always a good option, whatever the dealer’s card is. Pairs of twos, threes, fours, fives, sixes, sevens and eights are great motivators for the player to hit. Some exceptions are pairs of twos and threes when the dealer has 4-7 and the best option is to split. Same goes for 8-8 and 9-9 with the dealer showing 10 or Ace. The player should always split Aces, while 6-6 and 7-7 should be split unless the dealer receives 7-10 or Ace.
How Perfect Is This Game?
Perfect Blackjack is a great game for those who are intuitive and believe that can hit the Perfect Pairs bonus which offers an amazing 30:1 payout, at William Hill Casino. Since all the other rules are relatively similar to the other blackjack games, it cannot be classified as better or as worse than the other games. Its house edge can vary from 0.35% to 0.44% depending on certain factors, but these numbers are good for the players whatsoever. With some luck, intuition and good strategy players of that game could win some valuable prizes.
